PC Gaming & LAN

Our PC gaming has taken a back seat over the past year but this year we intend to change that. We hope to make PC gaming as equally important as Console gaming, after all it's just as much fun and all of our members last year were also PC gaming enthusiasts.

This year we hope to bring PC gaming to the society in several ways. Firstly we are in the middle of organising several LAN events in the union over this year, hopefully one every month of term. Here you will be able to bring your own equipment and play all day against other members of the society, as well as the usual file sharing and banter you would expect at any LAN event.

Secondly we hope to spend some time playing games at the local gaming/cyber café in Aberdeen, Café-LAN. Here we can use Café-LAN's own systems which are high spec, include a large amount of games that are already set up and waiting for us. Here we can spend shorter amounts of time playing, however there will be a small cost for this, some of which the society will pay for.

Finally the society has been trying to create ties with other university gaming societies around the UK in hope of being able to play them both online and in person. We are currently in discussions with Bristol University about playing on their UT2004 and CSS server as well as attending Edinburgh University's 24 Hour LAN later in the year. More on this soon.

The society currently has close ties to the Attic LAN group, who host 24hr and 48hr LANs in a flat in Aberdeen. Speak to the society president if you would like to get involved with the Attic LAN.
